Steve Wall’s new paper, “Backing Away from Equality,” has been published in the latest issue of the journal of Criminal Justice Ethics. The paper was based on a talk that Steve gave to the Freedom Center colloquium in the Spring, and it was presented at a conference in honor of Amartya Sen held at the John Jay College of Criminal Justice in New York City in May. The paper argues that Sen’s recent work on non-ideal justice, if accepted, gives us reason to reject his earlier views on the tight relationship between justice and equality.
