Overview

This is a course for high school students interested in going beyond basic state standards for economics. Students will come away better prepared for college, and for the ethical challenges that go with careers in business, or in law, politics, education, or journalism. The curriculum for this course will be developed as an ongoing collaboration between individual high school teachers and University faculty.

University Credit

Students enrolled in this course will be able to apply to the University of Arizona and receive 3 academic credits upon successful course completion as determined by instructor. These academic credits may be applied towards a future degree at the University of Arizona at a substantial savings based on current in-state tuition rates. The credits are also available as transfer credit at most other universities in or out of state.

Applications for Fall 2024

Enrollment must be completed by August 25, 2024.

  1. Complete and return the Parent Permission Form to your student’s high school economics teacher.
  2. All students must complete a UA application form for non-degree seeking high school students. There is no application fee. Apply at UA’s Non-Degree Seeking Application for High School and Community Program. Payment is due September 24, 2024. A $50 late fee will be applied October 23, 2024.
  3. Pay the $176.50 tuition fee on the UACCESS website. You will need your student NetID/password or Student ID.

What do you do once you decide to take Ethics, Economy & Entrepreneurship?

In the fall/spring, complete the UA high school admissions application and return the signed Parent Permission Form to your course instructor.

What is the process for applying to the UA?

The admissions application can be done online at the UA’s Non-Degree Seeking Application for High School and Community Programs. It takes about 10 minutes to complete and there is no fee to apply.

What information do you need to have ready before starting your UA application?

The application for high school non-degree seeking students is very straightforward and asks for information that you already know (i.e. name, address, email, ethnicity, etc.). You will not be asked for grades, transcripts, or immunization records.

Do you have to give a social security number?

No, this is not required by UA admissions.

What is the cost and procedure for paying for the textbook?

The cost of the textbook is $35. Your school may have purchased in advance.

When are tuiton payments due?

The $176.50 tuition payment is due by mid October for the fall semester and mid March for the spring semester.

How do you pay your UA tuiton?

Once students are admitted to the University of Arizona as non-degree seeking students and enrolled in the class, the instructor will have students register for a NETID and UA email.  A bill will be generated by the Bursar’s office and sent to the UA email address.  Students (parents) will pay online with a credit card or by check. (To avoid credit card fees, pay electronically with routing and bank account information.)

Will registered students recieve a UA email address? A CatCard?

All registered students are eligible to receive a CatCard which may be obtained at the UA Student Union CatCard Office. There is a $25 fee. The CatCard gives you access to the University libraries and student discounts around Tucson.
