Starting in 2013, the journal Social Philosophy and Policy will be jointly published by the Center for the Philosophy of Freedom at the University of Arizona and the Social Philosophy and Policy Center. David Schmidtz, director at the Center for the Philosophy of Freedom and professor of philosophy, is the new editor and Carmen Pavel, associate director at the Center, is now associate editor.
Social Philosophy and Policy is an interdisciplinary journal with an emphasis on the philosophical underpinnings of enduring social policy debates. The issues are thematic in format, examining a specific area of concern with contributions from scholars in different disciplines, especially philosophy, economics, political science and law. While not primarily a journal of policy prescriptions, some articles in each issue will typically connect theory with practice.
The invitation-only journal appears with Cambridge University Press and it will produce two issues per year. Each issue is preceded by a conference at which invited authors have a chance to discuss their papers prior to publication.
