Michael McKenna is a Professor in the Department of Philosophy. He writes and teaches primarily on the related topics of free will and moral responsibility, but more generally in issues of metaphysics, ethics, action theory, and philosophical psychology. He arrived here at Arizona in 2010, and earned his Ph.D. from University of Virginia in 1993. His books include Conversation and Responsibility (OUP, 2012), and Free Will: A Contemporary Introduction (Routledge, 2016), the latter coauthored with Derk Pereboom (Cornell, Philosophy). A new book, Responsibility and Desert is forthcoming (OUP). He is working on a book on the metaphysics of free will, tentatively titled Scrutinizing Source Compatibilism.  When not philosophizing, he enjoys cycling, skiing, and other outdoor activities, especially whatever he has able to do with his son Coen, his wife Danielle, and his four dogs.
