Freedom Center Associate Director Dr. Saura Masconale recently shared her research at the MANCEPT Workshops in Political Theory at the University of Manchester (Sept. 3–5, 2025). MANCEPT brings together scholars from around the world for deep conversations on democracy, markets, and political philosophy.
Masconale presented her forthcoming paper, “Economic and Political Objections to Moral Capitalism,” which explores how corporations increasingly take on social and political roles. She highlights both the promise of corporate social responsibility and its risks—from powerful shareholders bypassing democratic processes to markets becoming new battlegrounds of polarization.
Her participation reflects the Freedom Center’s mission to advance rigorous, global dialogue on the pressing questions at the intersection of markets, morality, and democracy.
