Kevin R. Kemper was honored for having the top paper abstract for the Minorities and Communication Division at the AEJMC Midwinter Conference March 2-3 at the University of Oklahoma.  He presented the paper, entitled “Freedom of expression for Choctaws and Cherokees: How ethnic particularlism and communalism co-exist with individual liberties and a pluralistic society.”  Also, Kemper served as moderator and discussant for another panel for the Minorities and Communication Division.

Kemper recently guest lectured about New York Times Co. v. Sullivan and freedom of the press in a National and State Constitution class at Pima Community College’s downtown campus. In addition, Reporters Without Borders USA has extended its contract another six months for Kemper to serve as its correspondent for Arizona. The organization promotes freedom of the press across the world.
