Mary Rigdon was awarded a “Free Society Grant for Undergraduate Programming” from the Institute for Humane Studies to help fund the 2027 Philosophy, Politics, Economics, and Law Summer School that she has been organizing every summer since 2023. The school features a curriculum focusing on the practical problems of organizing and running human society and is hosted at the University of San Diego (USD). Faculty from the University of Arizona, USD, and Chapman University teach in the curriculum. Approximately 150 undergraduates have attended from more than 30 different universities since the inception. In the heat map below, you can see that the students have come from all over the world to attend! Rigdon thanks the John Templeton Foundation for support from 2024-2026. The 2027 plenary speaker will be Jane Bambauer : https://law.ufl.edu/faculty/jane-bambauer , the Brechner Eminent Scholar at the Levin College of Law and at the College of Journalism and Communications.
